Pulling together the first ever AI for Everyone “IWD edition” workshop for over 600 ladies on International Women’s Day was no easy feat. This was our biggest and most well attended AI4E workshop ever. Graced by Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs, this was a special session conducted by women who shared about their journey and experience with AI and for women to learn more about AI.
Minister Teo pointed out in her speech that AI for Everyone is a great example of how we can respond intelligently to the challenge and opportunity of an AI-powered world. As individuals, she suggested the following 3 points: be curious and ask questions about AI; read about it – so much is being written about AI that is worth reading and learn to be friends with it – it’s useful to understand how AI is being used in all kinds of industries for all kinds of work. That way, one will begin to understand how our own work may be impacted and how we can be ready for it.
The participants came from all walks of life e.g. housewives, retirees, executives, students, female leaders from govt agencies, MNCs etc…. They were first introduced to the fundamental aspects of AI as well as AI applications (Computer Vision, Speech to Text, NLP) use case by our industry partners such as SCDF, KroniKare, IBM, Noodle Factory and Renal Team. A panel session involving the speakers also provided some insights into their background and journey with AI, inspiring our female audiences to take that significant first step to learn how to identify AI opportunities in their work and lives.
The ladies did not go home empty handed. Everyone received a lovely stalk of rose from AISG to commemorate this special day and occasion. To view pictures from the event, please click here.
